Mission Statement

The purpose of this blog is to correct misconceptions about Islam held by both non-Muslims and Muslims alike. After reading the same tired arguments against Islam by the same hate-filled posters on various websites, I have decided to put an end to the perpetual discussion that goes nowhere. I've saved several threads to my computer and will be using them as sources of topics for my first few posts. In a nutshell, this blog will seek to prove that:
  • Islam is a religion of peace;
  • The Qur'an does NOT condone suicide bombings, murder, rape, oppressing non-Muslims, killing all non-Muslims, or waging unprovoked war;
  • The Hadith is an illegitimate source for religious law; and
  • The most commonly held misconceptions about Islam come from either bad sources (the Hadith) or Qur'anic quotes taken out of context.
Additionally, I would like you to email me your questions and comments. If you disagree with what I say, think I am interpreting a verse wrong, or feel that I have left anything unclear, please tell me. The more questions you ask, and the more specific they are, the better I can answer them to help you understand the Qur'an and Islam.

Again, this blog is not just for non-Muslims, but for followers of Islam as well. I believe that Islam has been corrupted by barbaric cultural practices under the guise of fulfilling God's law. Honor killings, the stoning of rape victims, and the murder of apostates, while popular among some circles in the Middle East, are all un-Islamic. To the Muslims that will read this, if you disagree with my stances, tell me and explain why. I write what I write not just to stop the irrational, unfounded hatred some radical anti-Muslims feel towards Islam, but to also stop the equally irrational and unfounded practices some radical pseudo-Muslims engage in.

To quote Craig Ferguson, I look forward to your letters.
